Build a refresh priority queue

For the strongest result, export the Search Console Pages report for an earlier and recent period.

Three-step workflow

How to Use the Content Refresh Priority Analyzer

Start with exported data, keep the comparison consistent, and use the result to decide what deserves deeper investigation.

1

Export Search Console Pages data

Use the Pages dimension for two equivalent periods, or export a comparison table.

2

Upload and confirm the mappings

The analyzer compares click decline, current impressions, current average position and historical traffic for each page.

3

Refresh the top opportunities first

A high score means the page has multiple recovery signals. Review the live SERP and page quality before deciding what to change.

What you get

Built to Answer a Specific Traffic Question

This is a diagnostic tool, not another generic analytics dashboard.

0–100 refresh score

Creates one practical queue from multiple signals instead of sorting by traffic loss alone.

Decline severity

Pages that lost a meaningful share of prior clicks receive more priority.

Current demand

High impressions indicate that the topic still has search visibility and potential audience.

Reachable positions

Pages around positions 4–20 receive more opportunity weight than pages far outside the competitive range.

Historical proof

A page that previously earned clicks has stronger evidence of relevance than a page that never performed.

Exportable workflow

Download the full priority queue to a spreadsheet for editors, writers or SEO project management.

Why “oldest post first” is a weak refresh strategy

Publishing date alone does not tell you where an update will matter. A five-year-old article can remain stable while a twelve-month-old comparison page loses half its clicks. A refresh queue should start with measurable opportunity: decline, current demand, ranking reach and proof the page previously attracted search traffic.

What the score rewards

The analyzer gives the largest weight to meaningful click decline, then adds current impression opportunity, reachable average positions and historical clicks. This intentionally favors pages where a refresh could plausibly matter. A page with no current impressions and no historical performance will not outrank a page that is slipping from a position it previously held.

What the score does not diagnose

A priority score is not a content-quality score. The cause may be stale information, changed intent, stronger competitors, weak internal links, a SERP-format shift, cannibalization, indexing issues or a technical template problem. Use the queue to decide what to investigate first, not to automate rewrites.

How to review a high-priority page

Check the live SERP, current query mix, freshness of facts and screenshots, missing subtopics, internal links, title and description, conversion path and whether the page still matches the dominant result type. If several URLs target the same intent, consolidation may be better than refreshing all of them.

Methodology note: The analyzer uses transparent heuristics and the values in your CSV. It does not insert hidden traffic benchmarks or claim certainty that the source data cannot support.

Limitations

This tool works from the fields present in your export. It cannot see data that Google Analytics, Search Console or your tracking setup did not record. Diagnostic labels are designed to narrow investigation and should be verified before major SEO, analytics or blocking decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the Search Console Pages export?

It is strongly recommended. A Queries export can be scored, but a page-level export creates a real content-refresh queue.

What makes a page high priority?

A combination of meaningful click decline, current impressions, a reachable position and evidence of previous traffic.

Does a high score mean I should rewrite the entire page?

No. Inspect why the page declined first. The fix might be a small factual update, better internal links, title changes, consolidation or a technical correction.

Can I download the queue?

Yes. The analyzed rows can be exported as CSV.

Does IM Review HQ receive my data?

No. CSV analysis runs in your browser.
