Email List Value & Growth Calculator

Estimate what your email audience is worth today, how list growth and churn can change that value, and what your email funnel may produce from opens, clicks and conversions. Use the revenue mode if you already know your email-attributed revenue, or the funnel mode if you want to estimate it from engagement metrics.

Quick instructions

How to Use the Email List Value & Growth Calculator

Estimate the current and projected economic value of an email list using either known email revenue or a funnel-based revenue estimate.

  1. Enter your list economics.Add active subscribers, monthly growth, churn/unsubscribe rate, acquisition cost per new subscriber, and monthly email-platform or list-building cost.
  2. Choose a revenue method. If you know monthly revenue attributable to email, enter it directly. Otherwise switch to the funnel model and enter email volume, open rate, click rate, conversion rate, and revenue or commission per conversion.
  3. Review value and growth.Use annual email value, revenue per subscriber, 12-month projected list size and revenue, churn value lost, acquisition value, and sensitivity scenarios to evaluate the list.

Tip: Attribute only revenue reasonably connected to email rather than total business revenue. That keeps the per-subscriber value from being overstated.

Example values — not benchmarks: This calculator opens with sample numbers so you can see how it works. Replace them with your own figures before relying on the result. Outputs are mathematical scenarios based on the values and assumptions you enter; they are not forecasts, guarantees or expected performance.

Why Email List Value Is Worth Tracking

Subscriber count alone does not tell you whether an email list is becoming more valuable. A smaller engaged list can generate more revenue than a much larger list with weak engagement, poor offer fit or high churn.

This calculator gives you two ways to estimate value. If you already track email-attributed revenue, use the direct revenue mode. If you do not, use funnel mode to model opens, clicks, conversions and value per conversion.

Revenue per subscriber per month = monthly email-attributed revenue ÷ active subscribers.

Projected list size compounds monthly list growth and churn over the selected 12-month projection.

Monthly churn value lost estimates the email-revenue value associated with subscribers lost to churn.

Funnel-mode revenue = subscribers × emails per month × open rate × click-from-open rate × conversion rate × value per conversion.

Calculation Transparency

The calculations run in your browser and use the values shown on the page. IM Review HQ does not insert hidden industry averages into the result. Where the calculator offers confidence, growth, conversion or time-horizon assumptions, those assumptions are part of the scenario you choose.

For planning, run at least three versions: a conservative case, a base case and an optimistic case. If a purchase only looks attractive under the most optimistic assumptions, treat that as a risk signal rather than a prediction.

Limitations

This calculator is a planning model. It does not predict deliverability, inbox placement, future open rates, affiliate approvals, customer lifetime value or guaranteed revenue. Open-rate data can also be distorted by privacy features, so funnel-mode results should be treated as estimates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an email subscriber worth?

The most useful answer is based on your own attributed email revenue. Divide monthly or annual email revenue by active subscribers rather than relying on a universal benchmark.

Should I use open rate to value my list?

Only as part of an estimate when direct revenue attribution is unavailable. If you know the revenue actually generated by email, direct revenue mode is usually the stronger input.

Why include churn?

Because list growth can look strong while unsubscribes and bounces quietly reduce the audience. Churn also has economic value if each subscriber contributes revenue.
